5 Steps to Reach Your Goals This Year

A lot of people have New Year’s resolutions or just goals they like to set for themselves throughout the year, but many don’t always reach those goals. From fatigue to bad habits, there are a lot of factors that are going to try really hard to hold you back from reaching your goals – that’s why it’s so important to have the right tools and mindset to achieve whatever you set your mind and body to. And as your go-to Orlando CrossFit gyms, we have just the tools you need. Whether your goal is to meditate more, to gain muscle, to lose weight or anything in between, check out these 5 steps to reaching your goals.

Tell People About It

There is a lot of power in accountability. When you get serious about a goal you wish to achieve, tell your friends about it, tell your family about it, or tell anyone you know who is going to check in on you throughout the process. Reaching a goal isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. So, having people along the way cheer for you, ask you questions and keep you on the right track will make reaching the finish line that much more accessible.

Stop Making Excuses

There are a lot of things that can try and get in the way of you achieving your goals and you can definitely be one of them. Don’t get in the way of yourself – stop making excuses! There will always be a reason not to go for your goals. There will always be a reason to not workout today. There will always be a reason to sleep in a little later. But those are all excuses that are just going to hold you back. Rest days are okay – and important – but don’t make them an unhealthy habit.

Find Your Motivation

It’s true – when we feel more motivated, we reach our goals faster. But everyone’s motivation can look different. To figure out what keeps you motivated, first, find your “why.” Think of why you set the goal in the first place and continuously remind yourself why you’re striving for your goals. Then, find what keeps you moving. Whether it’s a new workout outfit or watching

Stick to It

Science has shown us that it takes 66 days to make or break a habit, so sticking with your disciplined routine for at least 66 days can help keep you striving toward your goals. If you do some form of exercise, even if it’s small, every day or every other day, you can start to form the habits that are needed to succeed and break the bad ones that tell you to quit.

Plan For Setbacks

Life is full of ups and downs and a lot of the time you don’t always know what to expect. That’s why preparing for life to throw you a curveball is extremely important when it comes to setting and reaching your goals. Decide beforehand what you are going to do when life gives you a setback. Have a plan for getting back on track and stick to that plan. A little setback doesn’t have to determine the outcome of your goals, just look at it as more motivation to keep going for it!

While there is no perfect formula for success, having the right mindset and setting the right parameters for yourself ensures a step in the right direction. Everyone is different, so finding what works for you is key. If you wish to achieve fitness goals, talk to the professionals at your gym and your health professionals to get some guidance on what could work for you. And always remember – here at Crossfit Waterside you have a family cheering you on every step of the way, no matter if your goals are fitness-related or not!
