5 Superfoods To Incorporate Into Your Diet

Your diet is extremely important not only to advancing your fitness journey but also to your overall mental and physical health. That’s why paying attention to the foods you put into your body is vital – quite literally! And one of the ways to help your body out is by incorporating superfoods into your diet. Superfoods are nutrient powerhouses and as your go-to CrossFit Lake Mary gym, we’ve curated a list of the top superfoods to start adding to your plate!

Though you won’t have to consume as much as Popeye himself, spinach is a great superfood to start incorporating into your diet! Spinach's nutrient-rich capacity makes it an excellent source of folate, zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin C and fiber. Though some may think they have a bitter taste, many people enjoy getting creative with this superfood by adding it to a salad, soup, smoothie or stir-fry!

Several types of berries are some of the most common superfoods, and there's good reason why! Berries, like raspberries, contain a lot of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber, making raspberries highly effective against inflammatory conditions, digestive and immune-related disorders and more. Plus, they make the perfect midday sweet snack!

Green Tea

Lightly caffeinated with a wide array of medicinal properties, green tea may not be the first thing you think about when you think “superfood.” But with its antioxidants and polyphenolic compounds, green tea has proved to protect against chronic diseases. So go ahead – sip on a cup of warm green tea before bed!

You may have never heard of this superfood, but kefir is actually a close relative to yogurt. With a thinner consistency and on average more probiotic strains, kefir is a superfood that is traditionally made from cow’s milk but can be made from non-dairy alternatives. Whether you make it yourself or buy it from the store, kefir is a definite must-try!

Sweet Potato

Loaded with nutrients like potassium, fiber, and vitamins A and C, sweet potatoes are a great (and delicious) superfood to incorporate into your diet! Whether you pop them in the air fryer for sweet potato fries or cook them in the oven for a nice baked potato, sweet potatoes are incredibly healthy – don’t let that sweet taste fool you!

There are so many superfoods out there, so don’t let the idea of eating healthy intimidate you! There are so many different ways to incorporate healthy foods into your daily routine without compromising on flavor or convenience.
