How To Fit Exercise Into Your Work Day

Working out is essential to staying healthy and in shape, but it can sometimes be hard to find time to work out, especially if you aren’t a part of a CrossFit gym in Orlando. And even if you are able to attend your favorite CrossFit class on a regular basis, it’s still important to incorporate movement throughout your day. That’s why as your top CrossFit gym in Orlando, we’ve put together a few ways to add some movement to your day without having to even put on workout clothes – unless, of course, you want to! Whether it’s your typical 9 to 5 or an endless to-do list from home, read on for how you can begin to incorporate exercise into your workday!

Simple But Effective: Jumping Jacks

Cardio is a great way to get your blood pumping, and incorporating it into a day where your sitting still most of the time can really boost your health. But what do you do when you don’t have the time or space for a run? Do some jumping jacks! Jumping jacks are a great way to squeeze in some cardio without having to leave the office. Whether it’s on your lunch break or in between meetings, see how many you can do throughout the day – you may be a little out of breath, but your heart will thank you!

Do It On Your Watch: Intervals

Most people who work during the day don’t typically have time to throw in a full-blown workout. And if you’re one of those people, you don’t have to sacrifice your health for work! Breaking up your exercise into smaller, more manageable increments will allow you to not only complete a workout that fits your schedule but it will also ensure that you’re staying active throughout the day – not just for a short stint of time.

Your New Favorite Accessory: Ankle Weights

While it may not be the most fashionable choice, ankle weights are a great way to strengthen those leg muscles while on the clock. If your job requires you to walk around a lot, ankle weights will boost that daily routine. If you’re sitting most of the day, try some simple leg lifts from your desk chair while wearing ankle weights!

Switch Things Up A Bit: Your Commute

If you aren’t working from home during this season and you’re looking for a way to incorporate more exercise into your day, consider switching up the way your get to work! Depending on the distance from your home to your job – and of course the weather – consider walking or riding your bike to work instead of driving or taking public transportation. And if you’re worried about showing up to work sweaty, try packing a change of clothes in your work bag and give yourself enough time to freshen up in the office bathroom before heading to your desk.

The Gift That Keeps Giving: Posture

Believe it or not, correcting your posture is a workout in itself! It’s true, focusing on and fixing your posture is a great way to strengthen your abdominal muscles and vice versa. Try swapping your typical desk chair out for a balance ball. This will force you to maintain a straight back throughout the day without accidentally slouching. Standing desks are popular alternatives as well that benefit your posture over time.

While working out with you all at Orlando’s top CrossFit gym is the highlight of our days, we understand that life can get crazy. And we also understand how easy it can be to sit still for way too long without even realizing it. But we hope some of these workday workouts help get you moving! And when you’re ready to hang out with your gym family instead of your work family, swing by your favorite CrossFit gym in Orlando – we’ll be happy to see you!
